The Whale Seeker team's passion for conservation is absolutely intoxicating. Working with them not only inspired us to think about more ethical approaches to data analysis, but also highlighted the importance for nature technology companies to focus on finding solutions that are effective and have an impact on the environment. We look forward to continuing to work with this incredible team in the future.

FAQ
Why should I use visual detection for marine mammals, I already have a hydrophone deployed? Different technologies exist for marine mammal monitoring and all have their limitations. Certain baleen whales remain silent when protecting their young or when sleeping; others are simply less vocal species, and acoustic methods cannot pinpoint their exact location. Visual detection complements passive acoustic monitoring by identifying silent individuals, confirming species visually for future auditability, and provides additional insights such as surface behavior and environmental conditions. Whale Seeker’s tools add this critical layer of insight, ensuring comprehensive monitoring.
I need a turnkey solution for data collection and analysis, how can you help? At Whale Seeker, we provide end-to-end solutions that simplify your workflow and that adjust to your reality. Our solutions include easy-to-use software, training and support through our partner network to ensure you can collect, analyse and act on high-quality data. We handle the complexity, so you can focus on the results.
I need to detect really small species. Can you detect porpoises, turtles or birds? Our tools have already successfully detected small to large cetaceans, including porpoises, as well as pinnipeds and sharks. We even have projects detecting penguins or polar bear tracks. You want to detect turtles? We would love to learn more and work with you to further increase the range of species our model can detect as well as optimize detections based on your species and environment of interest. I want to develop an AI detection tool in-house, why should I work with Whale Seeker instead? The AI model is only part of the equation. Whale Seeker’s tools are built upon a robust data pipeline and of course our proprietary AI models. Our field-proven solutions have been developed with input from leading experts, giving you access to years of research and innovation both on artificial intelligence as well as marine mammal biology. You will save time and resources, gain access to a proven and move right into insights and decision making. Answer to be updated
I want to make sure my data doesn’t get used by competitors, what are your guarantees? We take data security and confidentiality very seriously. Your data is protected by our data sharing agreements. Additionally, we implement robust data encryption and storage protocols. Your data is your asset and will remain your data when working with Whale Seeker.
I have some historical data that I would like to analyze, what is the minimal resolution that is required? The minimum resolution depends on the species and the environment you are monitoring. As a general rule, a higher resolution yields better results but we are happy to have a look at your data and determine its suitability. For satellite imagery, we need a 30 cm resolution. We have no space for extra personnel on board, how does your solution work? We are currently working with innovation partners to test our Möbius Observer solution in more environments and for more species. During this phase, Whale Seeker team members are on board to make sure our innovation partners have the support they need. In the future, your Marine Mammal Observer or drone pilot will be able to operate the tool with no extra personnel required. Answer text to provide
